“The Bachelorette” premiere is just around the corner with an all new season of fun, boys and bubbly Ashley Hebert from Brad Womack‘s “Bachelor” season. She tells the press in her first post-production interview that it was certainly hard being on the other side of things.
On how surprisingly hard it was:
“Going into it I knew that I’d have a whole other set of hard times, but I didn’t expect it to be as difficult as it was … I was so much more nervous for this one. There’s a lot more pressure … But I definitely learned a lot about myself. I guess I prefer to be on this side, but it was not easy at times, that’s for sure … I’d have to say once is probably enough. I really, really have a whole new respect for Brad for going through it twice.”
On her goal for her season as Bachelorette:
“To make sure that I left without any regrets. I know that’s cliche, but that’s what I really went into it thinking. … It was not easy, I’ll tell you that. But I went into it saying I don’t
want to leave with any regrets. If I do fall in love, I’m just gonna put
it all out there … I learned a lot from Brad’s season and I have no
On her selection of fellas:
“I will tell you this – I don’t want to give too much away – but I will
tell you that they did a really good job of selecting all different
types of guys. Different personalities, interesting careers. Interesting
personalities. Tune in and … you will … [laughs] you’re gonna die.”
“I didn’t know what t expect, but after the guys walked out of the limo,
I was blown away. At that point, I didn’t know them that well, but
physically they were gorgeous to me. And after getting to know them – I
had some great guys. Personally, I think the best set they’ve ever had.”
On what she was looking for:
“I wanted just a good man. Someone who was loyal and a family man. As
time went on there were more things I saw in the guys I wanted. Someone
who made me feel good, made me feel like a woman, made me feel more
vulnerable. As time went on, I figured out more what I wanted.
On why Brad wasn’t the man for her:
“We both needed different things in our life and, especially after meeting all
of these men, I realized how Brad wasn’t the best fit for me and I
wasn’t the best fit for Brad. I definitely realized Brad was probably
not the right guy for me … he was older and very settled in and I was
looking for somebody to create a life with, a new life together. I felt
like Brad was looking for somebody to fit into his life and not to say
that’s a bad thing, it just wasn’t what I was looking for.”
So is she happy? Did she find love?
“All those questions are things you’ll have to tune in to find out. But I’ll say I’m happy with the way things turned out for me. You’ll have to tune in and see everything, the roller coaster.”
“The Bachelorette” premieres Monday, May 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT with a two-hour premiere, and will move to the regular 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot the following week.
