While In Touch Weekly doesn’t reveal who Emily Maynard chooses on Sunday’s (July 22) “The Bachelorette” finale, it does drop this little bomb on fans of the ABC series in its July 10 issue: The guy to whom she’s engaged wasn’t her first pick.
“He won by default,” a source tells the magazine.
Now for followers of spoiler guru Reality Steve, we know which one of the last two men standing — Arie Luyendyk Jr. or Jef Holm — Emily chooses as her final fellow (at least according to RS’s source).
“Emily and Jef left Curacao as an engaged couple and are still engaged today,” Reality Steve reveals on his site on July 3.
But was Jef really not her top choice?
In Touch reports that Emily was on a date with one of her final two candidates when he suddenly bailed.
“He said, ‘I don’t think we know each other nearly enough to even be entertaining this; I don’t think we should get engaged.’ She was crying and begging him to reconsider,” says the magazine’s source, who says she even blurted out, “You’re the one I want to pick!”
The man — presumably Arie — then walked off the show, and Emily ultimately got engaged to the other finalist, Jef.
Sounds somewhat dubious that sweet Emily would really be able to tell one guy that he’s the one she wants and then accept another guy’s proposal soon after. And we’re not the only ones who aren’t buying it.

“You really think she had that type of meltdown and said those things to Arie, then gathered herself, stood at a podium and told Jef how wonderful he was and that she loved him and couldn’t wait to be his wife someday? Lets just be smart here people,” Reality Steve writes on his blog.
Do you really think Arie turned Emily down and Jef was her consolation prize?
