chris harrison ellen degeneres show 'Bachelor's' Chris Harrison on 'Ellen': 'You realize how little I do on this show, so please, please don't take away the one thing I do'“The Bachelor’s” resident straight man/counselor/referee Chris Harrison drops by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Wednesday, Jan. 12 to talk about his work on the popular dating show.

Ellen: “I have a question. How do you not laugh, or maybe you do and it’s just edited. How do you walk in every single time and say, ‘Ladies, Brad, this is the final rose. When you’re ready.’  Everyone knows it’s the final rose. They are watching the roses go away. There’s only one rose. They know it. Yet, every single time, ‘Ladies, Brad. It’s the final rose.’ How do you not laugh when you do that?
Chris: “Well, two things. You realize how little I do on this show, so please, please don’t take away the one thing I do. [laughs] And secondly, what I do, I picture my kids in college. Keep a straight face. The kids gotta go to school. You know what’s funny, in all seriousness, I wanted to get rid of that very early on. Eight years ago. I’m like, ‘This is ridiculous.’ But when you are there. You need to come to a rose ceremony some night.”
Ellen: “I would love to.”
Chris: “I’m serious. When you are a fly on the wall, you walk in that room, it’s amazing how it really sets the tone and the women are like, ‘Oh my gosh.'”
Ellen: “But they know it. They see it.”
Chris: “It’s not about the math. It’s not saying, ‘Ellen, there’s a coffee cup between us.’ You know that. It’s kind of like, ‘Oh my gosh. One of us is going home.’ It’s really about setting that moment. It’s silly. There’s really no way I can explain that it’s not silly.”
