obama reddit Barack Obama delights fans, breaks the Internet in Reddit live chatPresident Barack Obama hit the Interwebs Wednesday (Aug. 29) to answer some tough questions — and some trivial ones too — during a live Internet chat on social media site Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything” forum.

The techno-savvy president, heavily praised for his masterful and unprecedented use of social media during his 2008 campaign and his presidency, broke page view records and briefly overloaded the Reddit site in the 30-minute Q&A titled “I am Barack Obama, President of the United States — AMA.”

His advocacy for Internet freedom was just one of many crowd pleasers:

“I know you all care passionately about [it]; I do too. We will fight hard to make sure that the internet remains the open forum for everybody.” Later he extolled the Reddit community as “an example of how technology and the internet can empower the sorts of conversations that strengthen our democracy over the long run.”

“By the way, if you want to know what I think about this whole reddit experience — NOT BAD!”

In addition to hard-hitting political questions, Obama also addressed other important topics: beer and basketball.

“Jordan — I’m a Bulls guy,” he said when asked to name his favorite basketball player.

He also promised to share the recipe for the White House brew.

“It will be out soon! I can tell from first hand experience, it is tasty.”
