barack obama presidential debate october 22 2012 gi Barack Obama's MTV News special could rock the vote, will Mitt Romney follow? After winning over kids on Nickelodeon’s “Kids Pick the President” special, President Barack Obama is looking to engage a slightly older audience with the MTV News event “Ask Obama Live: An MTV Interview with the President.”

The half-hour special will air this Friday, Oct. 26, live from the White House at 5 p.m. ET. MTV News host Sway Calloway will sit down with the president, while correspondent Andrew Jenks will be fielding questions for POTUS from Washington D.C. area college students.

Those old enough to remember MTV’s “Rock the Vote” campaign may be heartened to see the network is still in the political game, and the theme of their coverage this year is “Power of 12.”

Obama has been very media friendly in the weeks leading up to the election. He’ll appear on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” tonight and sat down with Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show” last week.

MTV has also contacted Mitt Romney’s campaign to ask the Republican nominee to appear on the network, but we somehow doubt that’ll happen.
