Victoria’s Secret model Barbara Palvin went from complete unknown to tabloid headliner overnight when she was spotted with Justin Bieber amidst a mysterious bust up of his relationship with Selena Gomez. Now the lingerie model is lashing out at Selena over the dating rumors she says caused trouble with her own boyfriend.
It all started when a photo of Palvin and Bieber surfaced from backstage at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Then fans spotted the pair at a Broadway showing of “The Lion King.” It probably didn’t help matters that Palvin posted a vague tweet with a heart next to it from the show.
The news of Bieber and Gomez’ split took off when Selena re-tweeted an Instagram photo of Justin and Barbara with the cryptic caption, “…” From that point forward, the couple’s fans watched as Bieber and Gomez made several failed attempts at reconciling. The Beliebers blamed Barbara, despite her tweet telling Justin’s fans, “he is all yours.”
Today Palvin is telling Celebuzz she never hooked up with Justin and the whole debacle is Selena’s fault. “You know how the drama started — Selena retweeted the picture'” says Barbara, who took cameras behind the scenes of her fist Victoria’s Secret commercial.
“I wanted to meet [Justin] real bad,” Palvin says. “I watched his movie and I was like, ‘He’s such a cool kid, I want to meet him.’ And then when I did, at the [Victoria’s Secret] show we met, and of course we had a conversation and then I took the picture with him.” The 19-year-old model says the Lion King outing was an innocent excursion with a group of Bieber’s friends, Palvin’s sister, and her agent.
Barbara now says the media attention made things difficult with her own boyfriend back home in Hungary. “They gave me a real hard time with this with my boyfriend. They also put him in the press and he’s not a celebrity or anything,” Palvin says. “It made me pissed, but there’s always a dark side of this business.”
Palvin insists she hasn’t stayed in touch with Bieber, despite rumors to the contrary, but she has become friends with Justin’s manager, Scooter Braun. “When I heard that the paparazzi died in LA, I called him,” says Barbara of Scooter. “I told him to also tell Justin that maybe this is not a good start of the year, but the rest is going to be better.”
