barbara walters view gi Barbara Walters rejects George Zimmerman's interview demandsBarbara Walters won’t be interviewing George Zimmerman, the Florida man accused of murdering 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, anytime soon thanks to some unusual demands he made of the ABC newswoman and doyenne of “The View.”

Walters reportedly traveled to Florida on Tuesday (July 17) to sit down with Zimmerman, but walked out when he demanded that ABC News put him and his wife up in a hotel for a month, reports the New York Post.

On Thursday’s “View,” Walters elaborated, but would not confirm that Zimmerman had asked for a paid hotel stay.

“It was a condition that, being a member of ABC News, I was unable to grant,” she says. She goes on to describe Zimmerman as “desperate for money” and “polite, soft-spoken, stubborn.” But, in the midst of Walters’ debrief, Zimmerman apparently called in to “The View” and offered to talk to Walters live on air.

“He wouldn’t do the interview, but now he has something to say,” she says, adding adding, “This has been an interesting day, to say the least.”

Then she declined his offer, saying, “Mr. Zimmerman, if you could not do the interview yesterday, I don’t think we should do a quick one today. In the future if you feel differently, we will consider it.”
