Barry Manilow has a secret and it has nothing to do with the “Copacabana”: The singer married his longtime manager Garry Kief.
The couple’s nuptials were a private affair in April 2014, with only a small group of guests in attendance. The National Enquirer was the first to report the news, saying the guests just thought they were going to a lunch at the pair’s Palm Springs home.
Reportedly, “Dancing With the Stars” contestant and the couple’s neighbor Suzanne Somers was the best man at the ceremony and Manilow’s longtime assistant Marc Hulett officiated after becoming ordained online.
This is the second marriage for the singer, who has never spoken publicly about his sexuality. Manilow was married briefly in 1964 to a woman named Susan Deixler, but it was annulled in 1965. Kief was previously married to a woman and has one child. The couple has reportedly been together for nearly 30 years.
The pair reportedly held off on filing former paperwork all this time so that the news would not be leaked to the media.
Manilow’s publicist Victoria Varela declined to comment on the story.
