Now we know what all the fuss over Sofia Vergara’s ex-husband on “Modern Family” is about.
Former “Law & Order” star Benjamin Bratt has signed on to guest-star in the ABC comedy, which was recently picked up for a full season. He’ll be playing the Gloria’s (Vergara) ex-husband, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bratt, who’ll be making a pretty rare foray into TV comedy, will have a lot to live up to, at least in the eyes of his son Manny (Rico Rodriguez). The character has been the subject of several conversations between Gloria, Manny and Gloria’s new husband Jay (Ed O’Neill), mostly centered on either how awesome he is (from Manny’s point of view), how big a flake he is (Jay) and about his physical prowess (Gloria).
Bratt is coming off the A&E series “The Cleaner,” which was cancelled late last month after two seasons. His other recent credits include “Love in the Time of Cholera,” A&E’s “Andromeda Strain” miniseries and voice work on “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.”
“Modern Family” will also welcome guest stars Shelley Long — who appears as Jay’s ex this week — and Edward Norton later in the season.
