“I’d like to form an all-lady alliance,” says Van Pelt. “I get along really well with other girls — women, they’re women [laughs], so I think I can do it. It’ll be difficult kind of gluing us together, but I think I can sustain it and I think we can do it.”
In line with having a lady alliance, Van Pelt says she’s not really looking for a “showmance,” but she won’t rule out anything that will help her game.
“I’m open to using it as an ability, not so much a distraction. If it benefits me in the game, it’s a super power that I could use if I have to. Why not? You’re only young and hot once [laughs],” says Van Pelt. She adds, “I’m not afraid [to do anything to win], it’s game. You do what you gotta do to win the money.”
As for the houseguests right out of the gate, Van Pelt says she’s not sure if she’s going to play strong right out of the gate, particularly on the first Head of Household competition.
“I’m going to have to feel out the people. Looking at me, I don’t look like a huge threat. I just look like a nice person who’s ‘colorful’ and blah blah blah. So I gotta feel it out,” says Van Pelt.
She also adds that one type of person she’ll have a hard time getting along with is someone who is politically conservative.
“I’m pretty liberal, so in my daily life that means a lot to me — how I live, how I vote, I’m almost evangelistic about it because what I’ve seen in liberal views is that you vote for your community … if there’s someone that’s really conservative in the house that is very much like this is the way things should be, it’ll be hard for me to not say things,” says Van Pelt.
