bill-hader-leaving-SNL.jpgIn an interview with the New York Times, Bill Hader has announced he’s leaving “Saturday Night Live” at the end of the 2013 season. It doesn’t come as a huge surprise — his contract expired a year ago, but he was persuaded to stay for another season.

“It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point. It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just
time to go,'” says Hader.

The eight-year veteran of the show is known for his colorful characters, including “Weekend Update” correspondent Stefon, talk show host Vinny Vedecci, his impersonation of James Carville and many others. Hader is one of the few “SNL” cast members who has received an Emmy nomination for his work on the show.

This announcement comes on the heels of Seth Meyers being announced as the new host of “Late Night” on NBC.
