billy crystal monsters university wds Billy Crystal calls 'The View' hosts the B wordBilly Crystal made a grand entrance at “The View” Thursday (June 20) by calling Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and guest co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy a bunch of “b****es.”

Before Crystal’s introduction, the women were discussing celebrity chef Paula Deen’s use of the N-word, which Walters put into context of being Jewish. Campos-Duffy compares the term to “the B-word” with regard to “selective outrage,” insisting prohibiting use of a term by some groups of people and not others sends “a very mixed message,” — like when rap artists use the otherwise taboo phraseology in their lyrics.

“They can throw out the N-word and they can degrade women with the B-word, and it’s OK,” the TV host says of rappers in general, to which Goldberg replies, “I call people b****es all the time.” Walters then points out that Joy Behar also drops the B-word constantly with the intention of “being funny,” and Shepherd readily reveals she feels OK using the term, but would be angry if a man uses it.

After a commercial break, Crystal arrives to promote his role in Disney-Pixar’s “Monsters University,” opening June 21. He kisses each host on the cheek and then says, “This Jew is happy to see all you b****es this morning.”

Fortunately, the joke was well-received by “The View” hosts and their live audience. During the interview, Crystal calls his “Monsters Inc.” and “Monsters University” character, Mike Wazowski, his favorite character he’s ever played. He also calls sitting on the couch with the women of the view “like sitting in the backseat of my parents car with all my aunts … when it was about ‘that time’ of their life.”
