The second season of the STARZ high seas drama “Black Sails” won’t premiere until January 2015, but the network has already green lit the series for Season 3.
The show, which was created by Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine and produced by Michael Bay, follows “the most feared pirate of the day” Captain Flint and his crew.
“The incredible world that Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine have created continues to unfold in season two. Flint’s journey is riveting, and around him, Jon and Robert have woven an intricate web of conflict, betrayal, and redemption for the other characters that we believe will keep fans of the show coming back for more,” said Carmi Zlotnik, managing director of Starz in a press statement.. “We think that season three will bring even more of the drama and lore that has made it a hit both in the U.S. and internationally.”
The first season of “Black Sails” set a STARZ viewership record with its first weekend in January 2014 and pulled in an average of 5.3 million worldwide viewers per episode.
The pirate drama returns on Jan. 24 on STARZ.
