Bob Saget is going to get weird on A&E.
The cable channel has greenlit seven episodes of a series called “Bob Saget’s Strange Days,” in which the comedian and former “Full House” star immerses himself in some of the odder subcultures that exist in our great nation. A&E says that, among other things, he’ll spend time with a group of survivalists preparing for the end of the world, ride with a biker gang and hang with mail-order brides and their husbands.
“Strange Days” is set to premiere next year. Saget is also an executive producer of the show, along with Peter Traugott (“Samantha Who?”) and Troy Searer and John Foy (A&E’s “Obsessed”).
Bracco will play the mother of Angie Harmon’s title character in the pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show, based on novels by Tess Gerritsen, will follow homicide detective Jane Rizzoli (Harmon) and medical examiner Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) as they solve murders in Boston.
Bracco, who earned four Emmy nominations for playing therapist Jennifer Melfi on “The Sopranos,” most recently did a guest arc on “Lipstick Jungle” last season.
– In other casting news, Jeffrey Tambor (“Arrested Development”) and Abigail Spencer (“Mad Men”) have joined David Tennant in NBC’s pilot “Rex Is Not Your Lawyer.”
Tambor, who currently co-stars in “The Invention of Lying,” will play the therapist for Tennant’s character, a brilliant lawyer who suffers from anxiety disorder and begins coaching clients to represent themselves. Spencer, who also starred in the Lifetime series “Angela’s Eyes,” will play Rex’s fiancee and co-worker, the HR says.
