Dead people. They’re always messing up dinner plans, aren’t they?

That is indeed the case in the “Bones” episode, “The Survivor in the Soap.” Just as Cam (Tamara Taylor) and Vaziri (Pej Vahdat) are about to head out for a romantic — and secret — dinner for two, the FBI wanders in with a barrel full of body parts.

That’s always the way it goes… On “Bones” anyway.

A short time later, Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) contemplate a trip to get away from it all. They haven’t really been on a vacation together before, have they? And no, Brennan’s time on the run with Christine at the beginning of the season most definitely does not count.

What will they choose? Beaches or education? Alas, the announcement of a “dude in a barrel” must delay all holiday planning.

Now, if you have never watched the movie, “Fight Club,” prepare for a brief lesson on the components of soap. Sorry — it’s kind of disgusting.

At least the soap helps to give the scientists an approximate time of death. Science is cool that way, even when not disproving myths about the size of a man’s feet.

It turns out that the victim of the week is a fairly heartbreaking one. A former child soldier in Sierra Leone, he had all sorts of painful and awful injuries before death.

One quibble here: Is it just me, or have they subtly changed Arastoo Vaziri’s back-story several times over the course of his time on “Bones”? He doesn’t speak with an accent (despite faking it for awhile) and he served in the American military at some point. Vaziri also worked briefly at a museum in Baghdad. Now, he grew up in Iran during the war with Iraq? This timeline is confusing, at any rate.

“The Survivor in the Soap” airs on Monday, March 4 at 8pm on FOX.
