brave pixar Box Office: 'Brave' debuts strong while 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' doesn't exactly slayOn the first official weekend of the summer, Disney/Pixar’s animated “Brave” is hitting the bullseye with a powerful $24.5 million Friday debut. Though critics have suggested that “Brave” is Pixar’s weakest offering yet, and some skeptics doubt that their first film with a female heroine will be able to keep boys interested, the film is poised to easily take the No. 1 spot at the Box Office.

Though “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” is in second place for Friday, it’s debuting
softer than expected and will probably slip to No. 3 before the weekend is over. With a $6.3 million Friday haul, it’s set to bring
in just $16 million on its first weekend in theaters. This may not bode
well for the upcoming “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.”

In the No. 2 position will likely be “Madgascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted,” now in its third weekend. Earlier this month, “Madagascar 3” debuted with a $60.3 million weekend; “Brave” is expected to top that with around $66.1 million this week.
