how to train your dragon 320 Box Office: 'Dragon' conquers 'Alice' with $43.3M debut“How to Train Your Dragon” opened to an impressive $43.3 million, knocking off “Alice in Wonderland” for the top box office spot of the weekend.

It still couldn’t beat the last Dreamworks picture to open this weekend. In 2009, “Monsters vs. Aliens” brought in a whopping $59.3 million. Still, it was a strong opening weekend for “Dragon.”

Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” which had held the top box office spot for the previous three weekends, still brought in $17.3 million for second place, bringing its grand domestic total to $293.1 million.

“Hot Tub Time Machine” opened to a not-so-hot $13.7 million, though it still finished above last week’s openers “The Bounty Hunter” and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid.”

Here are the estimated ticket sales for Friday, March 26 through Sunday, March 28, according to

10. “Our Family Wedding,” $2.2 million.
