karate kid2 320 Box office: 'Karate Kid' sweeps 'A Team's' leg, rules weekend“The Karate Kid” didn’t slow down any after its big opening day on Friday and scored a huge win at the weekend box office.

The remake of the 1984 movie made $56 million for the June 11-13 weekend, according to studio estimates. After an opening day of just under $19 million, the movie, which stars Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, turned in consistent performances for the rest of the weekend.

“The Karate Kid’s” take was more than double that of the other ’80s update released this weekend. “The A-Team,” a redo of the 1983-87 NBC series, earned an estimated $26 million after a $9.7 million opening on Friday, a little below what forecasters were predicting.

Despite “The A-Team’s” slightly underwhelming opening, the overall box office rebounded a little from a couple of soft weeks. The total take for the weekend is an estimated $152 million, up about 10 percent from the same weekend last year.

The top 10 for the weekend, according to estimates from Exhibitor Relations:

4. “Get Him to the Greek,” $10.1 million
5. “Killers,” $8.2 million
6. “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” $6.6 million
7. “Marmaduke,” $6 million
8. “Sex and the City 2,” $5.5 million
9. “Iron Man 2,” $4.55 million
10. “Splice,” $2.9 million
