puss in boots 2 Box Office: 'Tower Heist' can't outsmart 'Puss in Boots'Though “Tower Heist” was expected to open big this weekend, its Friday numbers were lower than expected, leading to a respectable $25.1 premiere weekend, significantly lower than Universal’s originally projected $35 mil.

That leaves “Puss in Boots,” the Dreamworks film set in the “Shrek” universe and starring Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek, at No. 1 for its second week running. This is certainly a bit of an upset, as “Puss in Boots” had almost no drop between its first and second weeks in the box office, with ticket sales dipping only 3%.

“A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas” opened lower than expected as well, but at $13.1 million, it’s still a solid opening considering the film only cost $20 million to produce and had limited promotion. It came in at No. 3. Check out the rest of the Top 10 below.
