bradley cooper not playing lance armstrong sag gi Bradley Cooper will not play Lance Armstrong in movie

Despite rumors that Bradley Cooper would take on the role of Lance Armstrong in an upcoming biopic, the actor himself has said that it will not happen. At this point, anyway, Cooper really isn’t making any cycling plans.

The rumors began with Cooper gave an interview on the BBC. When asked how he felt about someday playing the disgraced athlete, Cooper replied, “I would be interested in that. I think he’s fascinating. What a fascinating character.”

That was enough to get the rumor mills going, especially since — unbeknownst to Cooper — J.J. Abrams actually holds the rights to a possible Armstrong-based film. Since Cooper and Abrams have a history together (from “Alias”), many made the connection.

Bradley Cooper did not. “I had no idea what [the interviewer] was talking about,” the actor told Access Hollywood from the Screen Actors Guild Awards. “I don’t know anything about it.”

It’s not likely that Cooper will be desperate for work any time soon. The actor attended the SAG Awards as a nominee in the category if Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for the movie, “The Silver Linings Playbook.” He ended up losing to Daniel Day-Lewis for “Lincoln,” but Cooper still has a chance at an Academy Award for the same part.
