bethenny frankel responds to gisele bundchen breastfeeding Bravo's Bethenny Frankel joins Gisele Bundchen breastfeeding bash

Say that headline three times fast! After Gisele Bundchen revealed to Harpers Bazaar UK that breastfeeding helped her drop the pregnancy weight, she took it one step too far for some women when she advocated that all mothers should be required by law to breastfeed newborns for the first six months.
Now, new mother, Bravo reality star, and fellow breast-feeder, Bethenny Frankel, is adding her two cents.
“It’s the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard,” Frankel told Us Weekly. “Breastfeeding is one of the most rewarding experiences, but it isn’t for everyone.”

]]>It doesn’t take a supermodel (or even a reality star for that matter) to figure out that not all women have a supermodel budget or a supermodel’s staff, so that they can afford the time (and the sleepless nights) it takes to breastfeed their babies for 6 months.

So, once Bundchen was whacked with a real world stick, she stepped back a bit from her previous statements.
“My intention in making a comment about the importance of breastfeeding has nothing to do with the law,” Bundchen says on her blog. “It comes from my passion and beliefs about children.”
She also writes, “I understand that everyone has their own experience and opinions and I am not here to judge.”
And that’s true. She didn’t want to play judge. She just wanted to play armchair lawmaker – an out of touch with real women, self-righteous, rich, genetically blessed lawmaker.
