Odenkirk is among the latest additions to the cast of FX’s limited series, which shares a title with the classic Coen brothers movie — but not its plot. Glenn Howerton (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) has also joined the cast, which also includes Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Kate Walsh, Colin Hanks and Oliver Platt.

FX has also released a few details about the characters they and other members of the cast will play. Here’s a rundown.

Thornton is Lorne Malvo, a “rootless, manipulative man” and the story’s central bad guy.

Freeman is Lester Nygaard, a Minnesota insurance salesman who comes into contact with Lorne and has his life turned upside down.

Hanks is Gus Grimly, a Duluth, Minn., police officer and single father.

Joey King (“Bent,” “Oz the Great and Powerful”) is Greta, Gus’ daughter.

Allison Tolman (“Sordid Lives: The Series”) is Molly Solverson, an ambitious young cop in Bemidji, Minn.

Odenkirk is Deputy Bill Olson, Molly’s partner.

Platt is Stavros Milos, the “Supermarket King of Minnesota.”

Walsh is Gina Hess, a former stripper and mother of two teenage boys.

Howerton is Don Chumph, an “ambitious personal trainer.”

Peter Breitmayer (“The Middle”) is Lt. Schmidt, Gus’ superior officer.

Tom Musgrave is Bo Munk, Lester’s boss.

Josh Close (“Justified,” “The Unusuals”) is Ron Nygaard, Lester’s more successful younger brother.

Russell Harvard (“There Will Be Blood”) is “Mr. Wrench,” a muscleman for the Fargo crime syndicate.

Adam Goldberg (“NYC 22,” “Saving Private Ryan”) is “Mr. Numbers,” another member of the Fargo syndicate.

Noah Hawley (“Bones,” “The Unusuals”) is writing “Fargo” and executive producing with Joel and Ethan Coen, Warren Littlefield and Geyer Kosinski. Adam Bernstein (“Breaking Bad,” “30 Rock”) will direct the first episode. Production is scheduled to begin in November for a spring 2014 premiere.
