douglas son beaten Cameron Douglas: Michael Douglas' son beaten in prison for bounty

Prison life hasn’t been easy for Cameron Douglas. Michael Douglas‘ son was beaten in prison after a New York City mob boss put a bounty out on his head. The 34-year-old received a broken leg and broken finger after the mobster offered to pay $100 to anyone who hurt the “rat.”

The New York Post has the news, and reports that Douglas said he was injured during a handball match. Douglas allegedly dropped out of the prison’s flag-football league after he learned that the mob boss had offered payment to anyone who injured him during the game.

“He broke his femur, which is hard to snap, and had to have a rod inserted,” a prison source tells the Post. “He told health services staff that he hurt them playing handball. You don’t break a femur playing handball.”

Douglas was labeled a “rat” after it was revealed by his therapist in 2010 that he had agreed to testify against his drug suppliers, David and Eduardo Escalera, for a lesser prison sentence. He ended up only getting five years in prison instead of 10 when he was sentenced in 2009, but later got smacked with an additional four and a half years for smuggling heroin and a prescription narcotic into the Metropolitan Correctional Center. He isn’t up to be released until 2018.

The source says no one has been punished yet for Douglas’ injuries. The bounty might not seem like a lot, but considering Cameron works as a weekend orderly and gets $1.65 a month, that $100 could likely go a long way for whoever got it.
