For the tribute, Underwood sang the Beatles’ 1965 hit ballad “Yesterday,” which was penned by Paul McCartney and is one of the most covered songs of all time. And it turns out, she had McCartney’s blessing.

“The coolest thing about singing “Yesterday” on the #Emmys is the sweet letter I got from @PaulMcCartney giving me his blessing to sing it!” tweets Underwood.

We also love that she included her post-Emmy plans in some tweets. First the Governor’s Ball, which had an Enchanted Forest theme, then: “And finally…the after AFTER party! Which consists of me watching ‘Young Guns’ alone in my room!”

Yes. “Young Guns” rules.
