Tvfashw524 Who doesn’t want to look like Cat Deeley?

At 5 feet 9 inches barefoot, lithe and

gorgeous, the host of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance, airing Wednesdays,

works that stage as if were a catwalk.

“She’s very elegant and chic,” says Gaelle

Paul, Deeley’s costumer last season. Paul, who just had a second baby and

wasn’t sure if she were returning to the show, says, “I have to say she can

really push a look. In many respects she can do very fun and outrageous things

that don’t look that outrageous on her.”

It’s true that few people can wear metallic

dresses or gigantic flowers in their hair without looking as if it’s Halloween.

Why can Deeley carry it off?

“Her height and confidence,” Paul says.

“And look, she does have this incredible body, and she does basically look like

a model, and they can pretty much carry off anything.”

Though Deeley can wear anything, Paul had

her in fancy dresses from Marchesa, Collette Dinnigan, Ellie Saab, Matthew

Williamson, Christopher Bailey at Burberry and Alexander McQueen.

“On one of the shows, she wore a beige

Herve Leger, and that was a completely gold-sequined strapless dress,” Paul

says. “And she put on amazing high-heeled Jimmy Choos that were a little bit

dominatrix, but not really.”

“I love heels,” Deeley says. “And sometimes

it’s quite difficult as the dancers are quite small. With heels I am 6 foot. I

feel like their bodyguard!”

Deeley and her costumer separately rave

about Jimmy Choo shoes.

“Cat can walk in really, really high, high

heels,” Paul says. “She definitely suffers. If the shoe hurts she doesn’t care.

She is a real trouper, like those catwalk models.”

In addition to the designers Paul cites,

Deeley says she loves supporting designers from the United Kingdom and favors

Jenny Packham and Stella McCartney.

Mostly, though, Deeley adores vintage

“It is my guilty pleasure,” she says.

“There is nothing more I like than getting up on a Sunday morning, sometimes go

out in my pajamas. Yes, sometimes I do. I put on a ponytail. I will put a

jacket on top, and sunglasses.”

“I want to get there early,” she continues,

referring to her forays to flea markets. “I wear bags that can go across me so

I can have both hands free. I grab a humongous bucket of coffee so I am fully

caffeinated to go to the flea market. I find things and customize them myself.”

Deeley doesn’t actually take to the sewing

machine but frequents a dry cleaner who makes alterations and repairs.

Deeley completes her onstage look with

Jennifer Kaufman jewelry, which Paul supplied. Left to her own devices, Deeley

fairly coos when she says, “I love Van Cleef."
