Green’s third season as coach on hit singing competition “The Voice” kicks off next week, but the Grammy-winning singer and Renaissance man is also developing a multicamera comedy inspired by the way Green balances his professional life in the music industry and personal life at home with his family, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Green would play the lead role and executive produce alongside “Everybody Hates Chris” co-creator Ali Leroi, who will also write the script.

It’s the latest move in Green’s burgeoning acting career. He had a supporting role in the recent Jordin Sparks musical feature “Sparkle,” voices Murray the Mummy in the upcoming animated comedy “Hotel Transylvania,” and co-stars with Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo in next year’s “Can a Song Save Your Life?” In addition to pursuing acting, the ever-busy Green is also working on a book, new album and Las Vegas show for next year.

Green isn’t the only “Voice” star showing an interested in scripted TV. Adam Levine has a recurring role on the new season of FX’s “American Horror Story.” Unfortunately, anyone hoping Christina Aguilera’s “Burlesque” might become a weekly series will have to keep dreaming, for now.

Would you watch a comedy starring Cee Lo?
