The regular season is over. And looking out on the vast stretch of summer, there’s little more than basic cable procedurals and the network reality dump to look forward to — only it also marks the return of one of TV’s most impressive comedic ensembles.
“Children’s Hospital,” once a series of 5-minute shorts on TheWB.com, enters its third season on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim June 2. And though it doesn’t promise any kind of continuity, linear plot or remotely realistic medical stakes, it will most certainly be funny.
Created by and starring Rob Corddry, “Children’s Hospital” includes Megan Mullally, Rob Huebel, Erinn Hayes, Ken Marino, Lake Bell, Henry Winkler, Malin Akerman and Michael Cera (in voice at least) among its regular cast.
And one bit of continuity you can look forward to in the Season 3 premiere, “Run, Dr. Lola Spratt, Run,” is a cameo from Jon Hamm. The “Mad Men” star was revealed to be the real identity of Akerman’s Dr. Valerie Flame, who outed herself as a cross-dresser in the Season 2 finale.
