Zachary Levi may get to go to battle alongside Thor after all.
The “Chuck” star has had some early talks with Marvel about joining “Thor 2,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. He would replace Josh Dallas, whose commitment to his ABC series “Once Upon a Time” would conflict with the movie’s schedule — filming is set to begin in July.
That’s something of a reverse of the situation from the first “Thor” movie for Levi. He was close to landing the role of Fandral, one of Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) Warriors Three compatriots, when NBC’s extension of Season 3 of “Chuck” forced him to bow out.
“Thor 2” will return most of the rest of its primary cast — including Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston — from the first film. Mads Mikkelsen, who was recently cast as Hannibal Lecter in NBC’s “Hannibal,” is in negotiations to play the villain.
The movie, directed by Alan Taylor (“Game of Thrones,” “The Sopranos”), is scheduled for release in November 2013.
