At the 2012 CMT Awards, Willie Nelson took to the stage with a cavalcade of current country stars (not that Willie isn’t still a star, but he’s a legend). Willie was flanked by host Toby Keith, Darius Rucker, Zac Brown Band and Jamey Johnson.
The quintet of stars sang “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die,” which Nelson has recently been closing his live shows with. The song usually features rapper (and fellow marijuana enthusiast) Snoop Dogg, but he was unfortunately not in attendance at the CMT Awards.
“Roll Me Up and Smoke Me” is off Nelson’s new album “Heroes,” which is just the latest of Nelson’s over 60 albums he has released in the 50 years he’s been making music. “Heroes” dropped May 15 and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Top Country Albums charts. We’ll post video of the performance just as soon as we have it.
