dan harmon paley 2012 gi 'Community' creator Dan Harmon may head to FOX for comedy pilotDan Harmon‘s TV exile may not last very long.

FOX is talking with the “Community” creator about developing a comedy pilot at the network, TV Guide reports. Harmon doesn’t have a contract with a studio at the moment, so he’s working out a deal with FOX’s corporate sibling 20th Century Fox TV.

Details are scant on the nature of Harmon’s project, although TV Guide says it will likely be a multi-camera sitcom. Harmon said in a recent interview on “Attack of the Show” that he’d like to try a traditional, live-audience comedy, “just to prove that it’s not cancer.”

Harmon was let go from “Community” at the end of last season amid reports that he clashed with actor Chevy Chase and that the critically adored but low-rated sitcom had trouble keeping on time and in budget.

The Harmon project, if it ends up happening, could be part of a big push to re-establish multi-camera comedies at FOX. The network has also announced a summer 2013 show called “The Short-Com Comedy Hour” that will present short comedy vignettes before live audiences. The best bits could be turned into full-fledged series.
