Dan Harmon.jpg“Community” creator, showrunner, and executive producer Dan Harmon is stepping down from his big boss position and into the role of “consulting producer” for the NBC sitcom’s fourth season.

David Guarascio and Moses Port, who most recently wrote for ABC’s “Happy Endings,” have inked a deal with Sony, the studio that produces the show for NBC, to run things in Harmon’s stead. Vulture reports that Sony intends to ask Harmon to continue on as a writer for the show.

So why the switch-up? First of all, most showrunners ink two-year deals after the second season, but Harmon only signed on for Season 3, which gave Sony the opportunity to make a change this year.

It’s no secret that Sony and Harmon have butted heads over the show’s direction as Sony attempted to broaden the appeal of the cult hit. In recent months, Dan Harmon’s management skills have come into question as his ugly feud with actor Chevy Chase surfaced in a very public way.

“Community” fans, sound off in the comments below. Do you have faith in the new guys?
