Was it luck that brought the “Community” study group together at Greendale, or was it fate? In “Heroic Origins,” Abed (Danny Pudi) becomes convinced that it was indeed destiny that brought the group together, and he tries to piece together all of their pasts. Surprisingly, it seems that their lives have indeed been intertwined for years.

The group’s heroic fates might even be important for the very survival of Greendale — Chang (Ken Jeong) is just about ready to destroy the college once and for all.

One of those connections seems to have occurred between Britta (Gillian Jacobs) and Jeff (Joel McHale) back in the days when Jeff was a lawyer and Britta had purple hair. Poor Britta almost managed to be a rebel with a cause for a moment there before her wishy-washy anarchist compatriots decided to go for burgers instead.

Oh well.

One thing you might want to watch for in the background of this video: Right at the end of the clip, look carefully at the “Greendale Citizen of the Month” plaque right behind Britta’s head. It kind of looks like only one woman has ever held that honor, month after month after month. Creepy …

What other crossing paths can we expect? We already know that Jeff and Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) played each other at foosball as children, while Annie (Alison Brie) and Troy (Donald Glover) were high school classmates.

Obviously there has to be more. We will find out what exactly they may be when “Heroic Origins” airs on Thursday, May 2 at 8pm on NBC.
