Former 80s teen idol Corey Haim has died at the age of 38, according to KTLA.
Los Angeles Police Department confirms that Haim died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday (March 10) of an apparent accidental overdose.
TMZ reports that law enforcement sources tell them Haim collapsed in the bedroom of his mother’s apartment where four prescriptions bottles were found nearby.
The actor was discovered unresponsive approximately sometime before 2 a.m. inside a unit at the Oakwood Apartment Complex, located on Barham Boulevard in Burbank, police confirm.
Haim was then officially prounounced dead at nearby hospital Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center.
The star has reportedly been ill for the last couple days with flu-like symptoms. But the exact cause of Haim’s death will be determined, pending official autopsy and toxicology reports.
]]>UPDATE: A neighbor at Haim’s Oakwood apartment complex, Jim Conessa, witnessed paramedics take him out of the apartment. “I saw him being wheeled out around 1 a.m., and I thought he looked alive,” Conessa told Hollywood Life. “The ambulance was here about 30 minutes. Corey still had an oxygen mask. He appeared to still be alive.”
Conessa doesn’t recall seeing the actor at the complex that often. He did comment that Haim seemed in better health as of late.]
For the record: A previous version of this story reported that Haim was confirmed dead at 3:30 a.m. Subsequent reports have Haim being confirmed dead at 2:15 a.m. by the LAPD.
