We’ve got some very good news for “Criminal Minds” fans. Though we know you’re used to major cast shake ups, given some of the goodbyes you’ve said to fan favorite cast members before, there’s one guy you can count on sticking around. Matthew Gray Gubler just signed a deal to stick with the drama through its ninth season, CBS confirms.
Gubler’s contract was up at the end of the last season, and he could have chosen to move on from the character of Spencer Reid — just as his co-star Paget Brewster chose to go in a new direction. However, as Deadline first reported, Gubler has agreed to two more seasons on the show.
That doesn’t mean that “Criminal Minds” has been officially picked up for Season 9, mind you, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction. In the meantime, Season 8 will provide plenty of drama, particularly given the addition of Jeanne Tripplehorn to the cast as a new criminal profiler.
