The first trailer for “The Strain” creator Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Gothic horror movie, “Crimson Peak,” has arrived, and it’s pretty terrifying. Starring Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam and Jessica Chastain, the movie is set in one of the creepiest old mansions imaginable as a tortured love story plays out.
Torn between two men — her mysterious new husband (Hiddleston) and a childhood friend (Hunnam) — Wasikowska’s Edith finds herself “swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds … and remembers,” the movie’s synopsis reads. It doesn’t take long for her to realize her husband and his sister (Jessica Chastain) are hiding a dark secret that’s locked away in the haunted mansion as it begins to terrorize her.
With both men vying for her love — and her life on the line at the hands of a supernatural force — Edith faces a truly horrifying journey. “Crimson Peak” is in theaters Oct. 16.
