daft punk album Daft Punk album 'Random Access Memories' breaks Spotify record

Just like their single “Get Lucky,” Daft Punk’s new album “Random Access Memories” is breaking Spotify records. The album premiered on the music streaming program on May 21, and almost immediately started experiencing high volumes of streams.

It’s being reported that “Random Access Memories” set a new record for the most streamed album in one day in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, Sweden, Finland, Singapore, the Netherlands and Norway. Daft Punk’s latest currently has more than 28.3 million streams.

At this rate, “Random Access Memories” is looking like it’s going to take the title of most streamed album in its first week away from Mumford & Sons’ “Babel.” Meanwhile, BBC reports that the record is the fastest selling album in the UK in 2013, beating Michael Buble’s “To Be Loved” for the honor.

It seems like people really missed their Daft Punk. The band’s last new album, “Human After All,” came out in 2005, though Daft Punk also released a live album, a compilation album, a remix album and a soundtrack for “Tron: Legacy” during that time.
