A new, round dance floor, a two-tiered scoring system — quite a bit was new on “Dancing With the Stars” Monday (Oct. 11).

Except the favorite. After a bobble last week, Jennifer Grey returned to front-runner status with an Argentine tango that was way ahead of everyone else’s routine. She also scored the first 10s of the season.

The judges gave out two sets of scores Monday, grading the performers on the technical aspects of their dances as well as their performance. Grey and Derek Hough scored a 27 (all 9s) in the technical marks and a 29 — 10s from Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba and a 9 from Len Goodman — for performance. Grey finished eight points ahead of Brandy for the night’s best score.

At the other end of the scale, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is in danger of being kicked back to the Jersey shore after scoring only a 28 out of 60. Bristol Palin (32) and Kurt Warner (34) could also be in trouble.

What did you think of Grey’s performance? It seems like a race for second place at this point, doesn’t it?
