danica patrick drive Danica Patrick's NASCAR debut is a crashing disappointment
There were high expectations for Danica Patrick‘s first NASCAR race this weekend. But she ran outside the top 20 for most of Saturday’s (Feb. 13) Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway before getting into a massive 12-car wreck just past the halfway point.
“It’s important to have realistic expectations,” Patrick told MSNBC. “But there’s also going to be tough days. And today, I would say, was more of a tough day.”

Danica and Dale Earnhardt Jr. both went airborne in a terrifying wreck but escaped without major injuries. Earnhardt is a co-owner of JR Motorsports team, which now must repair Patrick’s car and replace the one he wrecked. We’re talking about $200 grand.
But Earnhardt still has faith in Danica’s NASCAR future.
“This is such a different kind of racing than she’ll do the rest of the season,” Earnhardt said. “I think that everybody should just take Daytona for what it is.”
What, hard?
