The 24-year-old aspiring sportscaster was one of at least 12 known moviegoers killed by suspected Aurora, Colo., theater gunman James Holmes at Friday’s (July 20) midnight screening of the new Batman film.

Redfield’s brother, Jordan Ghawin, confirmed her death via his blog.

Eerily, Redfield’s last entry on her own blog was an account of her terrifying experience at the the Eaton Centre shootings June 2.

“I was shown how fragile life was on Saturday,” Redfield wrote on June 15. “I saw the terror on bystanders’ faces. I saw the victims of a senseless crime. I saw lives change. I was reminded that we don’t know when or where our time on Earth will end. When or where we will breathe our last breath.

“I say all the time that every moment we have to live our life is a blessing,” she continued. “So often I have found myself taking it for granted…After Saturday evening, I know I truly understand how blessed I am for each second I am given.”

Redfield, an avid hockey fan who covered the Colorado Avalanche NHL franchise, was also tweeting from the movie theater before the film started. “Of course we’re seeing Dark Knight. Redheaded Texan spitfire, people should never argue with me.Maybe I should get in on those NHL talks,” she wrote.

In his blog, Jordan Ghawin reported that his sister was shot twice, once in the leg and once in the head.
