"The Dark Knight" smashed box office records this weekend.
Now comes news that Batman/Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his mother and sister.
The alleged incident was believed to have taken place on Sunday night at Park Lane’s Dorchester Hotel in London where Bale is staying.
Bale’s mother, Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, are said to have gone to a police station in Hampshire to make the allegation, which was subsequently referred to the Metropolitan Police.
Despite the allegations, he was permitted to attend the Monday night premiere of "The Dark Knight" in London’s West End. But this morning he turned himself in and is still in custody, according to police.
A Met Police spokesman told the London Telegraph: "A 34-year-old man attended a London Police Station on Tuesday by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault."
Bale, who lives in Los Angeles, was born in Haverfordwest in South Wales. His father was the late David Bale, an activist and businessman, and his mother, Bale’s second wife, was a circus performer.
He has two older sisters, Sharon and Louise, and a half-sister, Erin, from his father’s first marriage.
Bale left Wales at age 2 and lived in Portugal, the U.S. and in Bournemouth.
His first role was in Steven Spielberg‘s epic "Empire Of The Sun." He was 13.
In 1994, he appeared in "Little Women" alongside Ryder. In 2000, he was cast in the controversial movie "American Psycho," based on Bret Easton Ellis‘ novel.
He’s also appeared in "Captain Corelli’s Mandolin," "The Machinist," and "Rescue Dawn."
He became Batman in the 2005 blockbuster and will next appear as John Connor in "Terminator Salvation," due out next year.
Coincidentally, Los Angeles Times’ Hero Complex blogger Geoff Boucher saw Bale last week on the set of "Terminator Salvation."
