gq dave franc Dave Franco attempts to distance himself from big brother James in latest GQWhile James Franco is a household name, his younger brother Dave Franco is still making his way up through the Hollywood ranks. This weekend, Dave appears in the “21 Jump Street” update alongside Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. He also appears on one of three
current GQ covers, and the interview suggests that Dave is doing his
best to distance his career from that of his older brother — “one
douchebag role at a time.”

It’s true that Dave has a knack for
playing the not-so-smart, not-so-nice bully type. The type-casting isn’t
lost on him. “Oh man, I’ve stopped trying to analyze it, because it
makes me upset,” he says. “Once I was
complaining about it to someone, and they said, ‘It’s because you have
an a**hole face.’ I was like, ‘Um, thank you. Thank you very much.'”

does have one thing in common with his bro, though — they’ve both
written poetry. While James seems to take it rather seriously (let’s
face it, James seems to take everything rather seriously), Dave’s poetry
was more of the teen-angst variety.

“My God, it was really
pretentious sh**,” he laughs. “I would write a poem out in the most
simple terms, and then I would go through the thesaurus and find these
elite replacements for them.”

We may or may not be able to relate.
