david arquette cupping David Arquette tweets icky 'cupping' pictureDavid Arquette, Courteney Cox’s super-amicable ex and “Dancing with the Stars” alum, is in the nation’s capital for Saturday’s (April 28) White House Correspondents’ Dinner. And, based on a picture he tweeted of himself undergoing a cupping treatment, we assume he’s fully prepared to attend the yearly mash-up of celebrities, politicians and media types.

But, Arquette tells Politico, last year’s WHCD weekend will be hard to top. He stayed in town through Sunday and joined the throngs of people celebrating outside the White House when news broke that Osama bin Laden had been killed.

“I apologize, I did climb to the top of the Lafayette statue, the one with the horse. At the time I thought it was appropriate,” Arquette says.

“I love [President] Obama,” says Arquette. “I know there’s a lot of problems right now but I think he’s a strong leader.”

Strong enough for cupping? Cupping, by the way, is a mainstay of traditional Chinese medicine, in which warmed glass cups are placed on the skin with burning cotton or some such inside. The burning stuff doesn’t touch the skin, but removes all the oxygen, creating a vacuum. According to Acupuncture Today, this opens up the skin’s pores, stimulates the flow of blood and realigns the body’s Qi.

Gwyneth Paltrow is among other celebs who have undergone the procedure and once turned up at a movie premiere with tell-tale cupping marks on her back.
