Fear not — the Beckham family plans to stay in the United States for the foreseeable future. On Thursday (Jan. 19), the L.A. Galaxy confirmed that hottie soccer star David Beckham signed a new two-year contract with the soccer team. The Los Angeles Times reports that Beckham will be well compensated — his new contract is worth $15 million.
“This was an important decision for me,” Beckham says in a statement “I had many offers from clubs around the world. However I’m still passionate about playing in America and winning trophies with the Galaxy.”
Beckham was apparently offered $18 million for just 18 months of play with the French club Paris-St. Germain, but turned it down to stay put in California with wife Victoria (aka Posh Spice) and their four children: sons Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and daughter Harper.
“I’ve seen first-hand how popular soccer is now in the States and I’m committed as ever to growing the game here,” Beckham says. “My family and I are incredibly happy and settled in America and we look forward to spending many more years here.”
He’ll also be allowed to return to the U.K. to play for Britain in the summer Olympics in London.
