Debra Messing and Eric McCormack reunited at an Academy of Television Arts & Sciences event honoring James Burrows, and the adorable photos from the meet-up are enough to give any “Will & Grace” fan pangs of loss.
The real-life friends starred as the titular characters in the hit NBC sitcom from 1998 to 2006. Though they don’t make a habit of posing together on the red carpet, it turns out the pair does keep in touch.
“The few times we have [gotten together] in New York, it’s usually just [Messing] and I having dinner, and we don’t even make a reservation,” McCormack tells Us Weekly. “We just kind of walk in, and there’s always at least one waiter kind of dropping something, going, ‘Am I on TV? Is this real?'”
Both Messing and McCormack moved on to new television projects (the short-lived “Smash” and Perception,” respectively), but both are still best-known for their time on “Will & Grace.” Their former costar Sean Hayes appeared on Messing’s “Smash,” but she and McCormack aren’t saying if he’ll return the favor in “Sean Saves The World.”
“He can call us!” McCormack says. Messing adds, “We’ll see. Time will tell.”
Though Hayes wasn’t at the event, former “Will & Grace” star Megan Mullally did meet up with McCormack and Messing inside the venue.
