Debra Messing and husband Daniel Zelman are undergoing a separation — despite still living together for the sake of their 7-year-old son — so it makes sense that she would be stepping out with someone new.
But according to People, that someone has just as complicated a love life as she does.
An insider tells the magazine that Messing has been dating Will Chase, her costar in NBC’s upcoming musical drama “Smash,” for six weeks now.
“It all happened very fast and it’s a difficult situation,” the source says, referring to the fact that Chase is also going through a separation. His rep confirmed to People that he and Broadway star Stephanie Gibson are getting a divorce.
Despite their separation, Messing and Zelman’s rep says the pair aren’t planning a divorce just yet.
Messing plays a songwriter composing a Marilyn Monroe musical on “Smash,” which premieres on NBC Feb. 6.
