The second episode, “Down in the Ground Where the Dead Men Go,” which focused heavily on differences in beliefs between the various races that inhabit Defiance, stayed relatively in line with the premiere. Total viewers fell slightly from 2.7 million to 2.4 million and adults 18-49 went from 1.3 million to 1.1 million.

Meanwhile, it’s looking as though “Defiance” is a show that will be aided by DVR viewings. The premiere rose from 2.7 million viewers to 3.5 million when the first three days of DVR palyback were taken into account. The adults 18-49 demo also increased, from 1.3 million to 1.77 million.
