“Sonny With a Chance” is no more.

The Disney series, which took a blow when star Demi Lovato entered an in-patient treatment program for “physical and emotional issues,” is switching gears now that the star has decided not to return.

“I don’t think going back to ‘Sonny’ would be healthy for my recovery,” Lovato tells People. “Being in front of a camera would make me nervous.”

Instead, the 18-year-old will focus on her singing career. “It made sense for me to go ahead and leave the show to focus on my music,” she continues. “It’s kind of sad for me that a chapter of my life has ended but there couldn’t be a better time for me to move on.”

Disney is going forward with the series, rolling with the temporary retooling into a sketch comedy show “So Random” and making it permanent. “We respect Demi’s decision to focus full time on her music and not immediately return to her acting career,” a Disney Channel rep shared with People. “She is a talented young woman and our hearts are with her as she continues to take action to improve her health and bounce back from adversity.”

Disney has fostered Lovato’s fame since she first appeared in the the 2008 Disney Channel original movie “Camp Rock” with the Jonas Brothers. The two will continue to collaborate under Disney’s Hollywood Records label.
