Congratulations, Derek Jeter.
Not only did the New York Yankees shortstop become the 28th player in Major League Baseball to make it to 3,000 hits — he did it with a home run.
Jeter became the first Yankee to achieve the feat during the July 9 game against the Tampa Bay Rays, right at home in Yankee Stadium.
Watching from the stands was longtime girlfriend, “Friday Night Lights” alum and future “Charlie’s Angels” star Minka Kelly.
He joins the ranks of such baseball greats as Cal Ripken Jr. and Honus Wagner as one of the only to reach the number. And he can now boast the extra distinction of being one of just 6 players to do so in 17 seasons or fewer.
The big 3-0-0-0 was Jeter’s third home run of the season.
