desperate housewives premiere renee lynette 'Desperate Housewives': What to expect in the Season 7 premiere

There are several large changes on the block when we touch down in the new season of “Desperate Housewives” and a few others that begin to rear their ugly heads.
Without revealing anything too spoilery, here’s what to expect from the premiere airing Sunday, Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
If you’ve never watched the show or you fell off of the series for any number of reasons and you’re coming back to reunite with Paul (Mark Moses) or check out new housewife Vanessa Williams or leer at Brian Austin Green, have no worries. The episode gives a handy little review of where we left off last season and recaps Paul’s back-story up to the present time.

For those who have stuck by the show all this time, expect several cliffhangers in the Season 6 finale to be resolved right away.

  • We will find out whose baby was switched at birth,
  • Paul will disclose his motivations for returning to Fairview, but a surprise guest will give his story an extra layer. And, by the way, yes, he’s still very creepy,
  • Orson (played by Kyle Mclachlan, who is leaving the show) does return to wrap up his storyline with Bree,
  • And Bree (Marcia Cross) does decide whether or not she’ll tell Gaby (Eva Longoria-Parker) that Andrew (Shawn Pyfrom) was behind her mother-in-law’s hit and run.

After watching the premiere, we believe it’s too early to decide a few things:

  • How will Susan (Teri Hatcher) remain a part of all the happenings on the block while living somewhere else? We have a feeling she’ll be moving back sooner in the season rather than later.
  • While Williams as Renee is a sight for sore eyes, it’s too early to figure out just how much spice she’ll bring to the show. Her verbal sparring with Lynette (Felicity Huffman) is entertaining at first, but outgrows its novelty. Naturally, we have high hopes for the new housewife.
  • Lynette’s storyline seems to revolve once again around her ongoing personal struggle with being a fulltime mother. Let’s give her something new to wrangle with!
In all, it was a good Season 7 debut and the producers planted some seeds that we’re hoping become full-grown trees and not just annoying weeds. We don’t want any storylines this season that become too easy to get rid of.
Are you excited to welcome back the housewives?
