tuc watkins comes out gi 'Desperate Housewives' star Tuc Watkins comes out as a gay single dad to twins

While appearing on “Marie,” which is Marie Osmond’s Hallmark Channel talk show, actor Tuc Watkins tells the host about his time on “Desperate Housewives.” Watkins explains his character was one half of “a gay couple who moves into a house between Eva Longoria and Teri Hatcher, and we survived a tornado, and we survived a plane crash, and we survived all those things.”
Watkins also discussed how art imitated life on the show. “I played a gay man who was married to his husband, who was trying to adopt a kid,” he says, “And in real life, at the same time, I’m a gay single man who was trying to have a kid through surrogacy.”
Osmond asks Watkins if the character gave him the idea to have a child, which he assured her it did not. “I think a lot of people at some point in their lives think ‘Am I going to be a parent, do I want to be a parent?'” Watkins says he knew he wanted to have children at a young age, explaining, “I knew three things. I knew I was gay, I knew one day I was going to be a dad, and I knew Gene Wilder’s ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’ was going to be the best movie of all time.” Watkins is happy to report that so far, he’s been right about all three. He’s a dad to twin sons Catchen and Curtis.
Watkins will next be seen reprising his role on “One Life to Live” when it relaunches April 29 online.
